As of 2025, the federal government is beginning to implement restrictions around 3D printers.
Currently, only the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has imposed restrictions on certain 3D printers. This webpage will be updated when any additional federal agencies introduce similar measures.
USDA
Effective July 28, 2025, USU personnel are prohibited from using USDA funds (cash, non-cash, or in-kind funds) to obtain any 3D printers manufactured by the following companies:
- Bambu Lab (China)
- Creality 3D (China)
- Anycubic (China)
- Elegoo (China)
- Flashforge (China)
- Piccreat (China)
- Shining 3D (China)
USU personnel who have used USDA funds to obtain a 3D printer manufactured by any of the above companies must contact compliance@usu.edu for assistance.
