Field Safety Plan

A field safety plan must be written and filed with their respective departments or college. See above in page (xx)for plan requirements, and a sample field safety plan.

Communications Plan

A primary and secondary point of contact must be designated at the employees’ day-to-day place of work (e.g. USU Main Campus, Ag Research Station, Home (i.e. major professor, wife,roommate, etc) etc.). When an individual or entity is designated as a primary or secondary point of contact, one or the other must be available during the entire duration of the trip by whatever means is defined in the Communications Plan.

Wilderness Communications Requirements

All field researchactivities conducted in a wilderness location,as defined here in, or any location that doesnot have continuousreliable cell phone service must have analternate means of communication readily available (i.e. satellite phone, spot tracker or other approved method).See above at page (xx)for more information.

Training

Medical training at least one individual participating inthefield research,must at a minimum be trained in Wilderness First Aid.Additional Medical Training may be required for certain field research activities orfor certain locations. See the above at page (xx)for more details.
